The thing I need to really push this week is getting more of my wall hanging system up and getting stuff up off of the floor and off of benches and onto the wall. I have a lot of wall and everything I hang on the wall in some way will free up floor room.

I should have some pictures next week.

Shoe-horning my boot and shoe shop in one corner of the shop is going to force me to be more efficient than I often am... Sometimes I need a little "forcing".

Do you remember (those in heating zones ) how big the rooms seemed in the old days when the heating stoves were removed for the summer and stored away? My wood burning furnace eats a lot of space right in the center of the shop. I will not have the new chimney up until fall but just as soon as I don't need it for heat (I can use electric heat in the early spring) I am moving the wood furnace out of the shop and sitting it in its future location. In the shop it not only eats a fair amount of physical space but additionally there has to be a safety zone kept clear around it so while there is some elbow room/swing a board/walk room there, in a sense the thing needs about 100 sq. ft. clear to be safe. I am pretty fussy about that. In its new location it will be in a smaller space enclosed in a masonry nook with a double layer steel ceiling with additional air space above it. I want the area protected well enough that in the worst case scenario that it can pretty much sit there and melt down without setting the house on fire.

The rack below that I used to store paint and varnish seemed like a good idea at the time but serves terribly and will be re-purposed for another use. It is a great sturdy rack like is often used in grocery stores for handling gallons of milk etc. It is on very heavy wheels and moves nicely. It holds paint fine but about every time you want a different can of paint you have to move 20 other cans of paint to get to it.
I'm going to replace it with some long wall hung shelves that will only be about 2 cans deep, maybe deep enough for a 1 gallon can in the back and a quart or smaller can in front of the gallon can.
I haven't decided what to use this old rack for yet but I will find something.

BTW, I have already moved it out of that cluttered corner.

My old Mark 5 has been upgraded to new motor and new tables. Now storage is an issue for all the extra parts. I came up with this caddy that fits under the ShopSmith and the 3' casters allow it to be moved aside when ready to work.

Nice job. I've had thoughts about building something along this line and it looks like you've figured out how to do it!
