TimeSaver Factory Tour MWWG

Post by tomsalwasser »

Minnesota Wood Workers Guild February Meeting

At past meetings like this membership was not required to attend. Might be worth checking though.

Dewayne Kangas of Timesavers will demonstrate the most common machine for small shops, the Timesavers SpeedSander. In addition to a SpeedSander, we will see a double-head sander in operation, followed by a walk-through of the facility.

Timesavers Inc of Maple Grove, Minnesota has built wood and metal sanders and over 60 years has shipped more than 50,000 machines. Timesavers offers the broadest line of sanding machines in the world beginning with 9" wide units up to 108" wide systems.

Where: Timesavers, Inc., 11123 89th Ave North, Maple Grove, Minnesota 55369
When: Tuesday, February 19th, 2013.
Time: 6:00 - 7:30 pm

Sorry I should have included a little background. Most cabinet shops have a Timesaver 36" sander or equivalent. My local high school wood shop has one and I had access to it when they offered adult education classes. Does a great job giving a smooth finish in no time. Forest Products Supply near me rents time on their Timesaver for $25 per hour. An employee actually runs the sander for you. It's a great deal, but the time I used it I didn't bring enough panels with me. We were done in 15 minutes but the minimum charge is $25. I was still happy. North Country Woodshop (a wood shop and woodworking club in the Twin Cities) has one for it's customers and members too.
