Webinar

Post by backhertz »

I just received an invite to a Webinar. I am not sure if the computer sets people up or how it works. Hmmm? I wonder what else I need? I have to move away from the computer- but I won't. Last Spring I participated in one of the first Webinars & believe that Doug has really come a long way in producing a really good presentation with really good camera shots with close ups panned in without it looking like an amateur. I am looking forward to it.

I simply received an email & then clicked on the link which gave the choice of 4 different Webinar dates. I know from the past, I'll get an email with an orderform containing about a dozen or less items at a significant cost savings. The double tilt, for example, was only $200-something prior to the April 2012 price increase. It really went up in price as Shopsmith realized they were losing money on each one they sold. I think I just saw it on sale/special.

Anyhow, I was wondering how people were selected for the Webinar & honesty still have no clue. I thought having 2 of everything on the list had excluded me, but there has to be something I 'need'. I'm looking honestly at 2 items. The keyless chuck and the table lifter.
One Greenie, Two Mark 7s,Three 510s and much more…

Double-tilt isn't that cheap 350.10 + 23.49 shipping for me. Powerpro do-it-yourself kit is around $1,400 with shipping. Nice machine, but no way I have such disposable income at this point in life.

Discount is similar to the Lowes demo - maybe 10% or so. The last demo I went to the prices hadn't increased yet. Also, the dust collector or bandsaw was a freebie with a new system. I'll know if the demo prices have increased next week, but I guess they have.

The webinar is an intro, 20 minute pre-receded video that someone posted here about 2-3 weeks ago. I'm guessing if you check Doug Reid on YouTube it is one of his recent videos. He ends it up with time to answer anyone's questions.

Nothing terribly special, but the discount is nice. There isn't a lot of interaction like there is at a lowes demo. You aren't likely to be able to ask him to demostrate, but any questions you have I'm sure he'll answer.

Here are links to the possible video he'll show, it one of the two.

Well I suppose someone at Shopsmith combs through this forum looking for people to invite. Nice people like yourself who in addition are likely to be interested in the PP and other upgrades.

I like the old headstock myself. I'm glad to know guys like Bill Mayo and Jacob Anderson are out there who can fix it.

On a totally unrelated note...I've been bitten by the hand plane bug and have been spending a lot of time trying to get up to speed lately. Suddenly my Shopsmith jointer seems so large, powerful and easy to use!
