I got everything electronically and filed Jan 14th. Had the money in my account by Feb 1. Even though I have an accounting degree and have tax experience, I use one of the e-file websites to be done with it and avoid the hassle of printing, mailing, etc. I actually paid $15 to e-file a $22 state refund.
Over the weekend a friend's wife was complaining about the 2% SS tax cut expiring. They don't make enough to pay much income tax to begin with. I told her about 40% of my check gets withheld (granted some is 401(k) and insurance) and she didn't think 2% was so bad anymore. Sometimes I wonder if people really stop and think about what they put into the system vs. services and benefits received before they complain how unfair everything is.
Time to Pay Uncle Sam

Personally, I think if taxes were not deducted from our pay before we even saw it, and we had to send a check (or the modern world equivalent) to the government periodically, I think we would hold the government a lot more accountable with how they spend our money.

Never heard of an extension? Once you master procrastinating, these tools become your friend:Ddusty wrote:It is that time of year. It is time to redistribute the wealth. This won't take long] Just 55 days left[/B] to procrastinate.
