The seller didn't show and didn't call to explain why. I guess he didn't want to sell it that bad

Interesting, He went up $100 on the 510, he was asking $150. I guess somebody did him a favor and informed him he had a 510 and it might be worth more than the $150 he was asking. I don't see any arbors or drill chucks or couplers. I would be interested in the scroll saw but if he took as good care of it as he did the V I would probably pass on it after taking a peek. It's just 2 miles down the road but he's hard to get in contact with, he won't answer his phone and his voice mail fills up. I know the 510 upgrade might be worth the $250 for somebody but I have no need for it myself.

Well the seller finally called me back. I offered him $50 for the scroll saw and he said it's mine. He also asked if I was interested in the 510 and I said I wasn't. He said we might be able to do a deal, he needs cash bad. Anybody interested in the 510? I will take a look at it tomorrow and see what kind of deal he's willing to make. I might offer him $100 and take it off his hands.

I picked up the scroll saw last night. Half of the rear table cradle is missing but otherwise it seems to operate properly. Everything that can rust has rust on it, so an overnight bath in Evaporust is in the plans. The V 510 is a different story. I had trouble advancing the quill, seems to be binding up, probably due to lack of maintenance for many years. When powered up it tried to come up to speed but blew the 15 amp breaker after about 15 seconds of trying. The seller said he used it as a table saw in the past and was sure it would run ok. It was hard to turn by hand but again could be due to lack of maintenance. The tables tubes (only 2) were stuck in the floating tables. The jointer seems to be in ok shape, just a lot of surface rust. The belt sander works, it's just not a shopsmith version. The way tubes seems to be in good shape, very little rust or pitting. The legs and casters seem to be in good shape. The speed control didn't seem to want to turn properly so there could be issues there. Overall, if you are looking for a 510 table upgrade, all the parts seem to be there and in good shape. The seller wanted me to take it off his hands real bad, I'm sure he will take $100 if I offered it. I just don't have any need for it or want to deal with it. I told him I would check with the forum members here to see if anybody was interested in it. I suggested he lose the rusty saw blades in the photos and try to clean up the jointer and relist on Craigslist as a jointer and 510 upgrade, with an unknown condition of the headstock. Let me know if you have an interest in this unit and I will let the seller know.
