Thanks for the info Guys some real wisdom there.
I do have a good power supply setup in the works but I'll be turning it down while I'm still on an extension chord.
I always turn it down when I finish a session but just in case I'll be mounting a sign.

Maybe, I'm annal, but I read to slow it down in my 1984 Shopsmith owners manual. So, I always turn it to the slowest speed before turning off unless I get in a jam. Then I use the sanding disk to turn the drive mechanism until I can get it back down to the slowest speed. I am using 15 amp outlet and all my wiring is 12 ga. When the electrician did our house a few years ago, all wiring except for the 220 is 12 ga. When I get it started, I feed the speed, then take away the speed to let it rest.
