The easiest way is when the user in question has posted or is online at the time you are looking. All you have to do is point and hover on the username and the user's number is displayed on your screen.

An alternate method: you can do a search using the user's name only. When a post comes up on your screen, the user's underlined name will show. Point and hover to see the user number.

For these that I posted the last couple days, the user name was displayed on my screen for "member's online now".

On my Google Chromium browser (Linux) if I hover over the name it shows the member number on the pop-up status bar at the bottom left of the screen.

Here is one example where you can hover (with the mouse pointer) and see the member number for that individual selected.

It may be displayed down low and off screen but it is there..

Bad screen shot on my part.

The number shows up along the bottom of the screen and may be either right or left side.

I can't capture the screen and hover at the same time or I would.

Here and anywhere else that the user name is underlined you should be able to do the same thing.

However, this may be a browser issue. Not all browsers work the same and I keep forgetting that.

The member number (or whatever info is hyperlinked to the underlined text) shows up at the bottom left corner of my Internet Explorer 8 window.

For example, if I hover over my underlined Private Messages link, the bottom left corner reads "http://www.shopsmith.net/forums/private.htm".

If you right-click the underlined link instead, and choose Properties, the member number info will show up as part of the Address (URL).
