SS Demo now in SandySprings GA

Post by pieceseeker »

Hello, stopped by on my lunch break today for a couple minutes. Wasn't able to watch much, just wanted to get a glimpse of the Mark 7.

Received the pricing handout.

I don't know, I just can't bring myself to get excited enough about it to buy one.
I imagined nice bright shiny chrome tubing and polished headstock and stands, banners touting the new PP, exclaiming special pricing, accessories brilliantly displayed for all to see............no...none of that.

Just a dull looking machine not really that far from the condition of my main machine minus what little rust mine has. No neat and orderly placing of SPT's, or anything else in particular. I guess my balloon of expectation was deflated.

Maybe it's the prices, maybe it's the fact that I'm so busy with restoring all the SPT's I have now and eventually learning to use them.

I still need to go through my headstock before using it. I have no experience yet with the SS machine and tools.

I think I'm going to hold off and learn to use what I have first, after all, there is a lot of you out there getting along just fine with your older machines, no?

On a side note, not that its makes any difference, not particularly impressed with the SS demo guy. He had a bandsaw with a very noisey bearing, so what little time I had to watch, I couldn't be impressed with the quietness of the PP.

No banners at or around the demonstration area or any other indications of a SS demo even being in the building.

The demo was at least in the main front isle, but at the far end of the building from the entrance.

Too bad they can't spend a little on pazazz to draw attention like other tool companies.

SS's product awareness department could be better......just sayin.

Oh well, I'm starting to support them with maintenance, upgrade, and other weekly specials since I'm into full swing with bringing my machine up to new condition.
My SS and SPT's will take a lot of time and care to get to the level I'll be satisfied with. It's almost like it's more fun to work on the machine than to use it.

OMG, have I caught the disease????
