shaper/sander fence Questions

Post by bhelms100 »

I have a shaper/sander fence for a 500 is there any way I can use it on a 510?

A friend just uses to large C clamps that he bought at HF to hold the metal base in position.

Some folks have drilled holes in the 500 version to mount it to the 510 table holes.

A bit of wishful 'thinking' IMHO!;)

I would be more inclined to mount the fence to a base, and then either clamp or use the 510 holes. Possible interference between the fence and the 'hole screws'.

There is a drawing for modding the fence here.

Thanks to everyone who has given me info on this. After reviewing the pdf on this it is not clear as to the distance from the left to the hole. Is it 3 1/2 or 3 1/4? I can't make it out on the drawing.

I do not have the 500 version available to me. It should be easy to figure out as your goal is to place two 13/32" dia. holes 12" apart centered on the arc in the casting.

Well it worked. Took the measurements from the PDF and drilled the holes. Bolted it in place and played with the shaper all morning. Thanks to everyone who gave great advise.

Thanks, you've posted that a few times for us. I decided I'd make a paper copy to stick in one of my note books in case I ever need it. I went ahead and got the updated version for my 520 but I still have the old one in case I want to use one of my 500 in that mode.
