I purchased a bare sanding drum said to be from a Shopsmith ER.
It has a 5/8" boss like mine and tensions both drum halves against a rubber sleeve like mine does, but it turns out it is about 1/2" smaller in diameter and regular rubber sleeves and drum sanding cylinders are too big to fit.
The only other difference I could see is the 5/8" boss has a much larger outer diameter.
I'm not referring to smaller sanding drum assortment that are fitted with arbors + shafts for drill bits.
Thanks.
Did Shopsmith or Magna have 2 different sizes of sanding drums ?

The 10ER drum sander I have (no idea if it original but it is old) uses the same drums that my current version does. I have no idea if there ever was a second size. I did check my folder on the 10ER but found no reference to size of the sanding drums or the drum sander.
I do that I have never found sanding drums to fit the shopsmith anywhere other then shopsmith.
Looking forward to see answers from more members here, someone will surely know more about this then I do.

1960 vintage used 2 1/4" sleeves. I also have a drum of unknown heritage(probably craftsman) that is the same size.
I have not purchased sleeves recently.
