I scan the Ebay Shopsmith list every week and sometimes do a low bid on headstocks and motors if only a day or less is left on the bidding and the current bid is really low. I noticed a Mark V located in Florida this week so submitted a really low bid today. First one I won. For $71.02, I won a Mark V, serial #125285Ebay item #130893894559. First Shipsmith I brought in the past few years. It really looks nice so I took a remote chance.

Even if shipping coast ya $150, sounds like you got a pretty amazing deal, especially if it had all the basic accessories. Worse case scenario, if all you wanted was the headstock, I am sure you could part it out and recoup your money.billmayo wrote:I scan the Ebay Shopsmith list every week and sometimes do a low bid on headstocks and motors if only a day or less is left on the bidding and the current bid is really low. It is a 3 hour drive for me. No additional accessories are included as the seller listed and sold them on Ebay at the same time. It was a totally surprise when I won. I may submit really low bids on several good looking items each week but first time it worked this well. I really hate to disassembly any good looking Shopsmith for parts so will rebuild the headstock and try Craig's List for a while. I have only disassemble many nasty, rusty looking Shopsmiths for parts in the past. If not successful, I am tempted to make it a MINI or SHORTY and offer it back on Ebay but I hate the packing and shipping hassle for a complete Shopsmith. Last possiblity is to separate the headstock and remaining parts into 2 listings on Ebay. I would add a set of my 3" casters to the frame legs as an additional bonus on Ebay.tgamel wrote:Even if shipping coast ya $150, sounds like you got a pretty amazing deal, especially if it had all the basic accessories. OK. i got your PM. I have it marked for you. This is the best looking 500 I remember seeing so will keep it together. I believe the headstock insides will look the same way. I plan to pick it Sat. I have a few frames from late model 520s that I need to gather together (missing misc pieces) plus my Home Show booth restored 1955 Shopsmith that I no longer need. My iffy health prevents me from doing much these days but still cannot turning down buying any outstanding and cheap Shopsmith parts, headstocks and SPTs. I win about 5% of the Ebay items I cheaply bid on.Gene Howe wrote:Bill,
