Looking for Joint-Matic Parts

I recently purchased a Joint-Matic from a woman whose husband had died and left her with a garage full of stuff. Since I was not familiar with the Joint-Matic when I bought it, I didn't realize it was missing a few parts. I also did not realize that finding parts would be a challenge.

As a new Shopsmith (Mark V) owner, I am accepting this adventure is part of of my learning process and I am throwing myself on the mercy of the forum community for help. Can anyone provide me with some guidance on places to locate parts for the Joint-Matic? I've been trolling eBay, but so far, I haven't come across anything the I need.

Thanks to anyone that can provide assistance. I have enjoyed my short time on the forum and look forward to learning a great deal from everyone.

I can't help with the Joint-Matic parts, but I sure do like your avatar. It reminds me of a favorite Engineer joke:

I'm an owner and yes it was difficult to find parts and has been that way for a while now.

What make it more interesting there are two distinct models, a chain driven and a screw driven version.

If you could let us know what parts you are in need of we might have some helpful hints as to work a rounds or substitutions.

The most critical part is the black plastic slide on the screw driven model, it was the weak link in the design and had a tendency to break. Mine was repaired by a previous owner and is still working with that repair, this could however be a major issue.

The other part I have seen missing quite often is the plate where the router mounts (also part of the dust collection system). For one of those you might have to resort to building your own or paying someone to make one for you.

I'm an owner of the Joint-Matic. I believe Shopsmith still carries the plate the slides and can be damaged by the screw. Unfortunately, it isn't a cheap piece to replace. A few things like the stop rod come up once in a while. I picked one up on ebay.

If you are looking the bevel miter gauge, it is pretty hard to come by at a reasonable price.

What parts are you looking for?

Thank you for the response. I am missing the crossbar, which extends between the two vertical rails. For this I'm sure I can develop a suitable replacement.

The other items I am missing are the pieces, which connect the height adjustment rod to the slide platform and allow for the plate to be moved up and down. Unfortunately, I do not know exactly what pieces are missing from the mechanism, as I do not have a manual or parts diagram.

If anyone has a diagram of the unit, or could provide me with a good photograph of the mechanism attaching the adjustment rod to the plate, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks Ed. It looks like I am missing more than I thought, but this gives me a good place to start.
