Dusty's ?? Tables and carriages.

Post by mtobey »

Dusty- I am the proud owner of 4 table/carriage combos. Now that I have my second Mk.V, the #1 which has my Miter Express and is thus the default tablesaw, will get a larger extension table. I can see no practicality to two carriages to the right of the quill. When I have had it on #1 it has been on the left, but that still leaves a gap over the Powerhead.
I will likely pony up for 1/2" 6061 T6 plate and weld up a larger table. I have the capacity to torch weld aluminum-- couple of sockets, couple of tubes and I'm in business. It would meet the SS table to its right. Believe me, I have given thought to welding two SS mains together but that would be a waste since I do not need more miter slots. In case I get crazy, I have extra Incra 2000 guide bars bought direct from Taylor(mine were a one time sympathy sale at two for $50). There is no better way to tighten up the miter and crosscut sleds. SS should stock them. Anyplace I need real and rugged and repeatable accuracy, I go Incra. Same on my standalone TS. I am so happy with my SS pair,I may sell the TS and BS and HD Craftsman DP(lots of CI). I am moving my Kreg BS fence to the CI table on my SS Bandsaw( Very patient drilling and tapping with Tapmagic dripping everywhere.) I do ply with a geardrive circular saw and guide bar and plate. One of my table /carriage/tailstock sets is really nice greenie- I'll probably list the 3 pieces together someday. I am impressed with Dixon Doc's setup. Regards, MT
