I'm not quite sure this would expose new people to the product. Everyone on the SS forum either already owns one or is in the final stages of buying one. Not a lot of random foot traffic here, except for those Chinese zombie memebers.

I assume the encoreclassified link currently is intentionally not 'active' pending admin approval or otherwise.

I can understand SS not wanting a flea market on this sponsored forum for reasons already pointed out.

It shall be seen if encoreclassified will be tolerated. I hope it will be, I think it is a good alternative to a trading post. A thread titled 'Trading Post For Sale Wanted For Trade' here on this forum with a link to it would be easily found by searching.

The encore classifieds page is a forum similar to what I was thinking, not a SS related forum. The product is the Thompson Encore change barrel firearms. The product market has a lot of market characteristics similar to the SS and the site is fairly successful and appreciated by those who use the Encore system.

I think a thriving marketplace would greatly increase the number of people on the forum and the number of links to the forum around the web. This would cause the google rank in searches to go up which would in turn expose more people. I imagine some people would end up linking to items for sale in other woodworking forums. "Anyone know about this item: LINK. Sure would be nice if I lived in city X. I would probably buy it and try it out."

I've known about the SS for a decade, but never seriously considered it b/c of the sticker price. Running across one on CL for $300 I jumped on it. Having a lot of fun with it so far and I am just testing it out.

Shipping expenses can kill the selling of most larger Shopsmith items. Local pickup on Ebay is a killer. I find that Craig's List along with the local newspaper and trade rags are the best bet. This is an example of what I use. Not successful at this time.

If anyone is traveling in the Tampa, FL area this summer or fall, I will be happy to donate the wooden frame, wheels and hitch to them. I hate to think I have to burn it some day.
