Setting Planer Knives

I've followed Nick Engler's tune-up, from Sawdust Session 10, for my new-to-me Pro Planer, and I've resharpened the knives. The manual I ordered isn't supposed to arrive until next week, and I would like to adjust the knives before then. Has anyone used the knife setting procedure from Sawdust Session 20, and do you agree that 0.132" is the right protrusion of the blade above the cutterhead? I have the blade setting gauge, but I'm not sure how to use it properly, and I also have a dial indicator setup.

Like Mike907, I’m tuning up my new to me Pro Planer but It didn’t come with a knife setting gauge and I didn’t think to order one when I ordered the manual. Can anyone tell me what the end to end measurement is? I’ll scale up the image on my printer to the correct size and make one.

The notch on the right is 13/16"(+.004) wide and 1/2" deep.

P.S. notice this one is 'curved' to match the arc of the path of the blade. The blade should just skim over the arc.

Thanks JPG. That worked pretty good. I got it all adjusted and ran a few boards through. This is my first planer so I'm excited to put it to use. If anybody has some tips or hints or what to watch for, send them my way.
