I bet he, I mean I, will have fun restoring it! Picked it up yesterday and almost stayed in Dayton, its a very nice country town. Which housing is this? I have heard references to B and C types...
The unit came with a nice table, rusted saw blade and arbor, lathe tool rest, and an end table so I am wondering where to go with the project first after some cleaning and putting this on a roller base. I will be using this mainly for lutherie since I have had to downsize my life and am lucky to have a stoge shed to work in at the moment. I like the idea of upgrading to the model 7 so I can get the new powerplant and tilting carraige at both ends. The tools I use for solidbody guitars will benefit from speed control and under table shapers/routers. I dont have a problem with a DIY kit but they are a little out of my price range right now..
So first i plan to clean, check seals/belts, align everything, and probably paint with POR-15 so that the thing will NEVER rust. THe two bottom chromed bars are pretty trashed, will I ever need these to be sliding rails? The POR treatment wouldnt allow that.

Get some evarporust to clean up the rust off various parts
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

Welcome to the madness.

Oops need to update my profile, I am in Porter which is about 20 miles NE of downtown Houston. I drove another 30 to Dayton and it was well worth it for a C note! Thanks for the offer, this forum looks to be a good one. I drive right by the OP on my way to work so I know there is someone around, I actually found this deal while I was scouring CL for a Jet 18-32 drumsander that was up for 300$...it didnt last long though. I was hoping no one else would notice until I could drive out there lol.
