Still interested?

Here she is an all her faded glory :D
Stole the hinge base for my restored / reversed 505. It came with a jointer, but the one pictured I already had. It also has a upper and lower saw guard that are pretty crudded up.

Traded the corroded 510 table system for a 500 setup plus $125. That covered my investment in her. I decided she was too tall so I cut 20" off and mounted the tubes in the lathe. I'll cut even more if / when I reverse the Emerson motor and get lovejoy couplers. The goal is to put the bandsaw on the right and jointer on the left. I took a wirewheel to anything that was 'easily' removed.

Do not consider having the band saw and jointer 'permanently' connected with lovejoy connectors. Consider the operating speed difference in addition to rotation direction.

I had planned to only have one active at a time but always mounted. From what I can tell of the lovejoys, I can leave the hub on each and and slide the spider inside of whichever end I'm using...right? I know I'll need a little wiggle room for the headstock to slide but not much.

I bought a set of the lovejoy connectors for the jigsaw on my 10ER. I hope you have better luck with them than I have. My problem is that you can't seat the hub all the way down on the spindle. And with the tapered flat on the spindle, they eventually work their way back on the spindle and come apart from the spider and other hub. I finally wrapped duct tape around the hub-spider-hub assembly to keep it from coming apart.

Heath, I am successfully using the lovejoy connectors on my 10ER/jigsaw. I did have the problem you describe but found a solution for it.

The original Magna coupler has a 5/8" hole all the way through the centre.
Mounting the jigsaw and lovejoy connectors on the 10ER without the spider reveals that the spindle protrudes into the space where the spider is.

The solution was to was to remove part of the centre of the spider (I used a 5/8" Forstner bit).

The spider at the top of the photo is original the lower one has been modified.
