The price?????????????

Post by oldc6 »

I went to the shop smith accessory page and read the comments about

the power coupler.. I think five entries.

one from 7-14-2011 said they are $22.00

another entry said 12-19-2011 $21.00

current price is $ 21.49...

So, according to that, they did not just go up in price.?????????????????

I just checked mine and they are 2 sizes smaller than the Shopsmith set screw. 10-1? Here are some comparison pics.

Those are tiny! Are all the lovejoy couplers like that?

Evidently not. Bill said his was 1/4". The pictures rpd posted in another thread show a set screw that could be 1/4" as well. I don't know why mine is different. I ordered them from Enco if that makes a difference, but they were Lovejoy brand.

I've ordered the Lovejoy L050's from Enco. Taking the MFG part number and searching on Lovejoy's site says it will be a 1/4-20 set screw. Assuming they arrive to my mother before she flies next week to come visit, I'll let y'all know what size they actually are.

I've broken a couple of Shopsmith couplers over the years. Now, I keep a spare or two on hand all the time, so if I break another one, I simply grab a spare and keep going.

And of course, order a replacement from the mothership so you have another backup.
