How about a collar behind the left half of the coupler?

That would work if you have one sized appropriately (bore and outside diameter). I don't.

I have thought about the collar. It will not make the shaft shorter to eliminate the 'interference'.

So the dimple will still be necessary.

Not being on a first name basis with a 10 JS, does it lift off straight up or 'out' and up/off? I assume the latter since the original coupler was solid rubber center with metal ends.

It lifts out and up. But you still have to extend the quill as well (or, in the case of removal, retract it). When the jigsaw is installed, the end of the quill housing is extended to seat in a chamfer in the lower housing.

There is an original 10er jigsaw coupler just listed on Ebay.

I have an original coupler, but the glue between the rubber and metal broke down over the years and the pieces came apart. I'd be a little concerned about the same thing happening with another. Time does take its toll...

Time takes its toll, please have exact change.

I have not tried it myself but someone on the Shopsmith 10er forum said they had used the larger size Lovejoy connector (the ones with three lugs on each hub) that have center less spiders and/or spiders that wrap around the outside of the hubs available for them.
