Upgrading Magna 620 Jointer

Is the only difference in this older unit and the more modern SS jointer the dust chute and safety featherguard upgrades? I was talking with Bill and he relays to me that he looks the build of the old Magna products so I am wondering if anyone has upgraded one to new specs?
Two each Shopsmith Model 500, 505, 510s. Sawsmith Model 500003. Most of the SPT goodies aside from the compressor and the Planer.
