Old jigsaw acquired, identification needed!

I am a new user, and just received a Shopsmith Mark V, along with some accessories. With these accessories was a jigsaw, whom the previous owner never used, but insists can be used on my Shopsmith.

I have searched the web, as well as the forums, and have been unable to find anything like the one I have in possession now.

As you can see from the photos, it has three holes at the base that, I assume, are for mounting on the Shopsmith. And, there is a spindle attachment on the side.

Has anyone seen a jigsaw like this before? How can I get this thing mounted on my MarkV? Is there an additional mounting piece required?

Please Help.

I am not sure of the dimensions of the saw, but it may be mounted(set on and clamped to) on an extension table(on the left end) and a coupler used as normal with SS stuff.

The saw is brand x.

Thanks for the reply.

Do you have any information on "Brand X"? Was this something made by the same makers of Shopsmith? I can't find any information about them on the internet.

I have an extension table, but have no idea what kind of clamp or coupler you are speaking of? Again, are these clamps/couplers something made by Shopsmith? Or perhaps an accessory from another company? Do you have pics or links available to these parts?

Looks more solid that the black pipe arm on the newer models. The mounting will be interesting though. C clamps to one of the extension tables might work. The coupler mentioned is probably in with the stuff you got with your new system. It's about five inched long and has hubs at both ends to connect to accessories. Lining it up will be trial and error. Good luck.

The coupler has internal ridges that engage the grooves on the hubs. The jig saw end has 4 ridges. There should be a hub with 5 grooves on the upper headstock 'rear' shaft.

The coupler is SS issue.

C clamps are whatever you have from whomever.

Likely Brand X geneology shall remain a mystery.

FWIW, it is likely older than the eldest of us.;)

i saw a Mark V with a black and decker 'drill motor' powered bandsaw so maybe this is something similar. It was painted a high visibility orange color though and only sorta mounted to the SS, a baseplate was needed.
Two each Shopsmith Model 500, 505, 510s. Sawsmith Model 500003. Most of the SPT goodies aside from the compressor and the Planer.

Here are the results.

I cleaned the old jigsaw up, and mounted it on an existing SS extension table. Thanks for the tips, to all who answered.

It works like a charm!

That is an interesting old jig saw! A very simple soluting to shopsmith mounting that should work fine.

I'm guess it doesn't have an air pump to blow the saw dust away, I've solved that by getting an aquarium pump and a chunk of proper sized tubing, and maybe some wire to attach it...
