Awhile ago, I posted details of my copy of the strip sander chisel sharpener in this post: https://forum.shopsmith.com/viewtopic.php?t=5837
I have made a somewhat simpler version :

It is shown mounted on my home made strip sander. It works just fine and does not flex in use. It has a 24" piece of bifold door track for the arm and uses the door post adjustable metal thingy (a technical term) as a support for the chisel handle socket. The mount is dimensioned to fit on a SS strip sander as well, but I like the home made one so much that I sold my SS strip sander to a local buyer. The "extra" set of mounting holes are there just in case I need them for something unknown in future (easy to put in while set up in the drill press).

This version is about as light as it can get, anything less would be too flimsy.
I think you could use utility t track such as shown here: http://www.busybeetools.com/products/UT ... 24IN..html
to make the arm instead of the track I used.
The nice brass chisel handle socket is 1 3/16" diameter at the open end and is the top off a 99 cent candle holder from my local thrift store.

The hardest thing to make was the brass nut that fits the curved slot:

Let me know if you need any more details.

But why not just a hole with a pin/screw to prevent it turning?;)
If running reversed becomes a 'need', will not your strip sander fit on the other end just like the ss one?

JPG, your nut with a pin is a great idea, much easier to make. I will have to remember that!
Yes, my sander will fit on the other end just fine. The extra mounting holes just tilt the gadget up more, for no reason at all I can think of at present. Maybe a future reason will appear.
For those who missed it, here is the post about the sander:

JPG's comment got me thinking.
and led to some pleasant time in the shop....here is an even easier version to make. It does away with the need of an "L" angle shaped piece and the curved slot. It uses a 24" long piece of the utility track and JPG's idea of a pinned clamp nut:

Give yourself all the credit! All I did was brainstorm. You worked out the 'details'.prmindartmouth wrote:JPG's comment got me thinking.and led to some pleasant time in the shop....here is an even easier version to make.
