I would hope so. We, here on the forum, have certainly done our share of "design engineering".
If and I rather doubt I will buy another set I will still go through the method I used rather then the shopsmith template and instructions. I really want to have the 1/4" and 1/2" steps and I'm not sure shopsmith has done that with their information.
It would be nice to have someone who a just purchased them do an install with step measurements.
I got 3rd party casters off e-bay and drilled for them like Ed did.(position them for proper lift, clamped, marked, drilled. I also had to add spacers, but that was because the stems were too long. I also drilled smaller holes(17/64")
Sad part about this whole exercise was the period(s) of denial CS went through!

SO: Note: For use in existing retractable caster brackets for Mark 7 and Mark V only. SPT Stands, Planer Stands and other machines do not accommodate a higher caster bracket position. A metal drilling template is included with 2 1/4" & 2 17/64" drilled holes. First remove the existing caster assemblies noting which side where that assembly is located and keep existing hardware for reuse. You are drilling new caster bolt holes 1 1/4" up from the existing caster bolt holes and more to the outside edge of the leg for clearance. Then using existing 1/4" caster leg holes and the lower set of caster template holes, the template is be bolted to a leg with 2 of the existing 1/4" screws. Using the 17/64" drill bit in the 2 remaining 17/64" drilled template holes, drill the 2 new mounting holes which are higher on the leg than the existing holes.. Switch the template to each leg and repeat. I recommend inserting a 3" caster in the removed caster assembly and checking of the caster swivel clearance with the foot pedal at all three foot pedal positions prior to accomplishing the following instructions. Most times the foot pedal will clear with no problems and the following instructions are not needed to be done. Only continue this instruction if the foot pedal has contact with the foot pedal at any position. I noticed that the foot pedal could contact the caster closest to it on the first set I did but not on later installations. I marked the location of the foot pedal lever and the lift rod near the lift wedge for alignment when the foot pedal is moved 2” from the lift wedge. I did not remove any roll pins from the smaller connecting rod between the two housings. I secured the foot pedal in a vise and used a shorten 8p common nail to remove the 5/32” foot pedal roll pin. This nail is only long enough to drive the roll pin free of the rod but leaves the roll pin in the foot pedal. I drilled a 5/32” hole in the rod using the foot pedal hole as a guide. I only drilled the depth of the nail. Using the prior marks and holding the nail to position the foot pedal in the new drilled rod, I hammered the 5/32” roll pin fully back into the foot pedal pushing out the nail. A picture is included with one caster set foot pedal in the original position and the other caster set with the new foot pedal location. Included are 2 8p common nails shorten and ground flat on the end for removal of the foot lever roll pin. Bolt on the removed caster assemblies in the new drilled holes using existing hardware.

OK, so step on some toes. I also have these available for the Power Station and Power Stand as Shopsmith does not offer them for this equipment.

IMHO SS screwed up this thing so badly that they deserve very sore toes.
Every one here should realize that you are referring to your 3" casters, not shopsmith's 3" casters.

Thanks. Leave it. My casters have the same measurements as the Shopsmith ones, just from a different seller. I was using these casters on the MINI & SHORTY Shopsmiths I sold for many years but never offered them separate for sale. I found a left over box of them this spring. I like to share as much Shopsmith information as possible to answer Forum questions. I have been taken to task before for my hints about parts I have available now which are many. I try to offer reconditioned and improved parts and packages that are not available or are some what different or improved than what Shopsmith sells. Not always successful in doing this. I appreciate anyone posting any comments on any subject I have discussed as this is how I still am able to learn different things and/or ways to do them. I am having memory difficulty putting posts together these days and think my information is not worth posting at times. Thanks again.

I have installed the casters using the metal drill guide. They seem to meet the floor properly. HOWEVER the peddles to raise and lower it bind and hit the caster at the middle peddle.
