'New" use for my head stop device

Post by forrestb »

When horizontal boring a quilt rack leg, I found that I needed access to the partially drilled hole, but I wanted to come back to the same location if further drilling was needed. I attached the head stop before moving the head and was able to later return to the same location with considerable accuracy.:)

And the blue painters tape on top of the headstock serves what purpose?

I don't know but I would venture the guess that it is "anti-scratch".

blue painter's tape is critical!

at least in this case. I could not use the quill stop in this configuration because the knob on that stop hit my workpiece. I had to take the knob off.

So the out was to tape a scale on top (with blue tape, as noticed) and use it to measure when the proper depth of bore was obtained.
