cutting tubes
I've cut two sets of tubes with a horizontal metal cutting bandsaw with good results. recently I cut a set for a friend using a metal chop saw at work also with good results.

JPG pretty much nailed it. I drew a pencil line around the tube before cutting. Once the straight line cut is started, it shouldn't wander as it will stay in the groove.dusty wrote:OKAY Tell what I do wrong to make it wander. Mine - just like the one you posted here from HF, is laying on my work bench. It was on its way to the trash can but if you can tell me what I do wrong, I might keep it.
It even came with a replacement cutter.
BTW - I have cut literally piles upon piles of pipe but with a bit more expensive Rigid pipe cutter. This thing from HF is not a Rigid even though it looks a lot like one.
It was a workout for sure... The better ones probably do the job better.
I bought a set of 1/2" impact sockets from Matco. They are "laser cut". I have never rounded a head off with one. In fact, I have often reformed a rounded head by hammering a Matco socket onto the head. They are now 17 years old, have seen lots of abuse, and well worth the $20 EACH that I paiddusty wrote: My Grandson-In-Law swears by Mac Tools but I have never had the experience.
We had a Snap-On truck and Matco truck that came by the shop. All the mechanics stopped buying anything from Snap-On because their "lifetime warranty" was never easily used. My best tools are from Matco.
