I don’t know how this happened, but this tool survived a yard sale and almost a month on craigslist. It was in Chelan, a small city closer to Seattle than Spokane, so when I found it and called on Friday, I was expecting it to be gone. The owner said it was still available so I made arrangements to pick it up Saturday. Story is it was his fathers; he was the woodworker in the family. He was nice enough to show me an oak display stand he had built and the guy obviously knew what he was doing. The guy I bought it from (the son) is actually a carpenter, general contractor and owns his own business. He didn’t own a Shopsmith and is not a “woodworker” and said he had only run a couple of boards through it. In fact, he thought it was kind of odd I would want to drive the 171 miles from Spokane to get it. I asked the usual questions and he started it up, put an oak board through it and said as far as he knew, all it needed was to sharpen the blades. The table had some very light surface rust and the castors kept falling apart for some reason. Looks like the frame was raked some and would only sit on 3 feet but looked ok. I paid the man and was probably only at his house 15 –20 minutes. I’m starting to clean it now but will have to wait for the manual to come before getting to deep. The yard sale sticker price was what I gave.
I feel “Holy crap” lucky!

Near as I can read the sticker in that photo, it says $125 - great deal if so.

How about this deal in the SF Bay Area:
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/tls/4069488465.html
A 510 in seemingly good condition with an an attached storage cabinet, along with a Pro Planer, all for $500....damn...it's only a 12 hour round trip for me...

Glad someone picked this up!
I seriously considered this even though I'm in Montana (I drove 420 miles one way to get an old 500:D ).
Instead I found a Delta 22-560 for $25 (about 60 miles from sister's house), that so far only needed new blades. Previous owner thought it was bearings and wanted to get rid of it. The sound was just dull blades.
