Closing A Family Members Shop

This past week has been interesting here in Colorado. The rain and flooding although not personally affecting us has impacted others in our family. All are fine with no lasting effects. Saturday my brother called to inform me it was time to empty his shop as he was selling his home and moving to assisted living. Sunday we loaded his pair of Shopsmith's and all accessories and moved them cross town in the rain. The next two days were invested in being absolutely certain all were clean, dry and rust free. The fun part for me was figuring out the Jointech System mounted on his "Grennie" that took me a long time. Brother had bought that unit because it looked neat. Unfortunately his health began declining and he never truly experienced it. My shop is already overflowing thus I won't even attempt to use it. Frankly after many hours of cleaning and setting it up for sale I prefer my Incra equipment. I do honestly believe Incra tools are better made. I am heaving a sigh of relief now that the craigs list ad has been posted and Pray this assortment of equipment is perfect for some local woodworker. This process gives me pause to consider how much work someone will go thru and the thought processes one endures in a time of change such as this. Jim

Here is a link to an ad that sounds a lot like your brother's. It looks like a nice setup. I have enjoyed both my Incra and Jointech setups.

You are correct that is his setup. He has had a tough time as a vietnam vet who is plagued with a number of physical and emotional issues. I tried hard to introduce him to woodworking. He loved making pens but found it challenging as his mobility declined. I pray someone will want/use it it and that the dollars spent can go to his care. Jim

Jim, that's a beautiful job on the equipment presentation and ad. I would have jumped on it a couple of years ago .. what's a little 3000 mile round trip with a U-haul, anyway?!!!

My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. I moved my mother into a beautiful assisted living facility in 2000, and we had quite a few good years afterward.
