bad infeed motor
morning yall..Im new to the shopsmith community but right off the jump have a problem. I just bought a professional planer and the infeed motor is out. At least I assume it is because it takes everything I got to push a board through it! It did cut nice though. Is this the obvious problem or could it be something else.

Yes. Assuming it is turned on. Both the speed control knob and the power switch must be 'on'. Do you have the stand mounted or the SS mounted model?barnguy wrote:had it cranked all the way up and still wouldn't budge. Shouldn't I be able to see the rollers moving while the planer is running?
If you feel like 'experimenting', and have an ohmmeter(multimeter) check the resistance of the motor. IIRC the motor plugs into the control. I do not have one, so I am at a bit of a handicap here.
The brushes are an area of suspicion if motor measures 'open'.
Let's stop here before getting 'deeper'.(save that for later;))

This may be a stupid question, but have you cleaned and waxed the table yet? Friction is not good for ease of feed.barnguy wrote:alright JPG, ran a 1x10 through it. Both rollers are moving and the blade is cutting fine, and im not even taking 1/32 off of the plank and it is sluggish as heck trying to push it through. Not sure if theres some sort of tension adjustment on these to help it feed through the planer?

Johnson's Original Paste Wax(aka JPW here). Cleaning supplies section at HD.
Actually a paste floor wax, but the original works better than more recent stuff.
Sad will be the day it is no longer available(just ask some folks from 'up north of the lakes).
It WILLl make a difference!!!!!
