my dad read a book by a japaness admiral that gave credit for the U.S. pacific victory to the Seabees because of the amazing things they could doGene Howe wrote:FCB,
You stay safe!!!!!
And, a boatload of gratitude for your serve.
My dad was a SeaBee in WWII. Chased Hirohito's army from Pearl to Okinawa.
Dad and I were talking about the landing at Iwo Jima and I asked about the Marines on the island. He bristled and said "Who the H3ll do you think cleared the beaches for their landing?"
He has/had a sort of year book of his outfit's exploits during the campaign. There are pictures of CBs on the beach welcoming LSTs full of marines.

Every organization was essential to victory or they would not have been there. Some jobs may have been more dangerous but all were essential.
It is like asking which is more important the guy that made the bullet or the guy that shot it? The guy that built the plane or the guy that flew it? The guy that took off and landed or the guy that build the runway that enabled him to do that? The guy that landed on the beach or the guy that cleared the beach so he could land?
