Response to a subtle challange(safety switch key)

In an earlier thread about SS customer service a certain forum participant raised the question why don't I make a key.

I had not considered doing that until then.

Well it took three tries(even though a repaired first attempt does work, I question it's durability.

Here is the result: l-r 'oem', first(repaired), second(abandoned), third(I quit now).

Trying to get that gable end shape was my undoing on the first two attempts, so I went flat and larger on the third.

The grain really looks wild, but this is black locust and is very hard and very strong(as long as you keep the saw from inflicting fatal damage).

I made these with a 5/8" bandsaw blade not because it was the correct tool(a scroll saw would have been 'easier'), but because it was 'available'.

I doubt any 'coloration' will be done(I'se done with this:D).

Interesting......I believe the suggestion to make a safety key was in this thread. And I believe it was related to the safety key for a planer, part number 513411.

That said, nice job on the Power Station removable switch key.

The 'subject' did move from a planer key to a power switch key.
