I've spent much less time in the shop than I thought I would. Summer is always brutal here, but I thought I'd work through it. It wasn't too long ago that I was on construction sites, working under the fierce summer sun of Phoenix. Now, I guess I'm softened by a few years behind a desk; it's waaaay too easy to retreat from the garage into the land of cool AC and frosty beverages. I've slipped out there a bit and do my maintenance, leaving the serious woodwork for after summer.

I'm heading for the shop now. I do a lot of what I do in the shop during the wee hours of the morning (before the rising sun penetrates into the open, east facing garage door). My first cup of coffee is ready now.

So help is on the way. :-)
Yes, our trees are burning up too!

We have a lot of leaves falling, but mainly from the heat and no moisture. It will not be a pretty fall this year in southeast Kansas.

As long as it doesn't rain, pull the SS out onto the garage apron under the oak tree and "get r done". Often have some breeze, but keep a couple of towels handy to wipe the old head and face. A couple hours in the late afternoon is when I get going, just take longer to build and complete a project. That's the sweat from the panhandle of Florida.

I just love it when she says I can go make sawdust. ;) :D

I moved here in Northers Arkansas in 1980, the first year that I remember not hitting the 100 mark. Its been a good Summer. I do have a/c in my garage but I only turned it on in the afternoon maybe three or four days this year.
We got like 5 inches of rain a few weeks ago, every thing here is nice and green, should be some awesome colors this Fall.

I'd be happy to send some of our rain your way if I could...it's been pouring all weekend...at least 2" so far and they're calling for more heavy rain tonight...not nearly as much as Colorado saw recently, so I won't complain...and besides early fall rain=happy salmon, so that is good but damn it's early to already be scrambling to clean out clogged gutters

How many of you are running AC in your woodshop? How many are just staying in the house? :D .
Thanks for the reminder. I bought a portable A/C from Costco a year or so ago for the "shop" (attached garage), but even after sealing up (sorta) the gara- uh, that is, shop, I've shied away from using it, 'cause of the A/C-unfriendly nature of the space.
But your query was like a smack upside the haid, since we no longer have a power bill. It is Very hard to get used to the idea (we are, ya might say, 'frugal' usually) of 'wasting' energy with inefficient appliances, but heck, I could run the A/C all day with the door open and it wouldn't cost a cent, and even better wouldn't waste anything.

So, soon as I finish my current "honey do" in the kitchen I'll be gettin that shop A/c hooked up, pronto.

As for your hot spell, since we now know that there hasn't been ANY 'global warming' in at least 15 years, I expect AlGore and the Climate Scammers to be declaring an upcoming Apocalypse of Doom in the form of Global Cooling (again). Anything to keep those scambucks rolling in! 'Hope' for 'Change', so to speak...
