Easy. Start with Woodrow Wilson.

Anyone heard of thread hijacking????? If not, check original post. If you don't care, don't complain if someone hijacks your thread.

skou wrote:Pardon me while I post about a completely different subject.

Since the weather in Phoenix is FINALLY cooling down, and I've got a LARGE project to do, along with lengthening my FrankenSmith, I'll be able to get some work done, on my apartment patio/shop.

Now, back to the sidetrack at hand. "Fearless Leader" has decreed that all "non-essential" personnel would be furloughed.

This begs a "stupid" question. WHY do we have (why are we paying for) "non-essential" government employees? Does your boss have non essential workers? Why? Is he (or she) just as dumb as a box-o-rox?

Ed, in Tampa, do you agree? Sounds like you just might.

If, you are employed by the Federal Government, and your job (or organization) isn't mentioned in the Constitution, "buh-bye!"

See the 10th amendment. Get your state to do it, or your community, or even a group of like-minded citizens.

National Park Service. Arizona, you just got the Grand Canyon. California, you just inherited Yosemite...

Boeing, Lockheed, (used to be) McDonnell-Douglas, you just got NASA (Sell Moffett field to Google, since they want it, or rent them Hangar One. Make them restore it.) Oh, all you companies, you "ain't" gettin' it for free!

Since I'm on a soap-box, and it's an old fashioned wooden one, here are some more.

Congress, ANY law you pass, applies to you, as well as the rest of us. Your salaries will reflect your state's or district's average salary, as will your "leave" status. (If the average person in your district, gets 3 days off, paid, a year, so do you.) Air flight will be at YOUR expense, and commercial. Like I said above, you WILL be entered in Obamacare, at YOUR expense, until YOU repeal it!

I'll climb down now. Glad it was a wooden soap-box!

Was this over the limit? Have I ruffled too many feathers?

Steve
I missed your question to me and that said Yes I do agree.

If we can identify people as being non essential to lay them off, why do we have them in the first place? Perhaps it is to add a laid back feeling as they lounge around the water cooler all day.

Now there is talk of default. Can you even imagine the mess if the government defaults. I think it has to happen sooner or later but yo boy what a mess it will make.

Makes me wonder what will happen to all these idiots that think the solution is just to print some more money and write some more IOU's.

All I can say is hold on to your hats boys this ride is liable to get bumpy

You're right, Bob. This started out as a nice, polite little conversation until post #38. I'm detecting a pattern.

It's too bad when a subset of guests at a dinner party starts ranting about something which causes an uncomfortable argument. The other guests withdraw from the conversation, and the poor hosts don't know whether to intervene or hope the argument dies out. So far, our hosts are hoping the argument ends, or maybe they're in the kitchen doing the dishes and don't even notice what's going on in the dining room.

As for my own behavior, I know I'm not de-escalating the situation. Would my silence imply that I agree with the general tenor of what's being said? That's my main problem. I want to register my disagreement in an agreeable way.

Sorry bra, take 2 steps backwards.

Wasn't Woody, was Teddy. (But that doesn't play as well, on the Sandwich Islands.)

OK, to FURTHER hijack this thread, has anyone ever thought about opening a "Sandwich Islands Sandwich shop"?

Not really. Wilson was a growing hazard to freedom in America before Teddy bought the bully pulpit. (A wild thought: Teddy may not have been electable had it not been for the Wilson "elite" cadre of commies setting the stage.)

Poor Teddy was a clown. T'was Wilson and his elitist "gummint of administraitors" that really turned the country.
(Not that I'm really disagreeing with you, more that I'm looking at a slightly different level of scumbaggery.)

Anaway, main thing is continue to be aware of them as what touts Social(-ist) Security as a noble program, well run and righteously maintained. Don't even bother to wonder whether it's because of evil or insanity.
