Protecting the insides of the tubes

Since I completely disassembled my 40 year old Shopsmith when moving, I'm considering soaking the tubes in Evaporust to clean the interior.
After rinsing, what's good to protect the interior finish?
The exterior of the tubes is in good condition; protected with Johnson Paste Wax since new

My first thought is "IF" they need protecting, why not fill with the expanding foam that is used to fill cracks and empty spaces in walls. Once in there, nothing is going to get in to affect the interior.

Maybe a crazy idea, but it was the first thing that came to mind (often dangerous!:o )

If you did not rinse the evaporust off the inside, that will deter rusting. For further 'help' coat inside with penetrol.

Plastic milk bottle capsfit/fill the tubesand stop sawdust from infiltrating the open end.

I may not bother to do anything about the insides of the tubes. It looks like a very fine dusting of rust - after 40 years I probably shouldn't be concerned. All the posts about cleaning tubes is about the outside, and mine are in good shape. I didn't see any saw dust come out when I removed them.
