Tis slower than yer typical router.

For the price of a speed increaser, decreaser & reverser you could almost buy a new Power Pro.:)

The Speed increaser is only one of three items mentioned. Add the speed reducer, a reversible motor(an Emerson is not modifiable to enable reverse running).

Annnd you get a greater speed range. 100-10000. More if you want to exceed SS recommendations at fast.(not recommended by me either)

No way near as convenient(human factors etc.), but 'we' are used to setup changes!:D

Now a PP and the increaser / reducer . . . . . . 25- 20,000+rpm:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Based on Shopsmith guidelines, that combination is a waste of money as input speed on the increaser is limited to 4700 (V setting). From the speed increaser manual warnings section:

"For Mark V owners: always run the Speed Increaser at the Mark V speed setting 'V'. NEVER go below or exceed this speed."

Based on the design of the speed increaser drive train, I think the warning is good. If you want to try it, be prepared to buy a replacement drive disc or two.;)

I sold my speed increaser to offset the costs of the PP upgrade.
