510 Alignment Setup Gauge

Can anyone please post a picture or dimensions of the factory alignment /setup gauge that comes with the set when you upgrade your table to a 510? I'm in the process of cleaning up and aligning some 510 floating and extension tables and I'd like to know if there is a "special" measurement the tubes should be mounted in relation to the table tops. Thanks

There is no special gauge for use on the 510 table set. However, my tubes measure 3/8" down from the plane of the main table.

This dimension is not critical but what is important (not critical) is that that dimension be constant across the entire width of the table and that all tables in a set measure the same.

The dimension to which I refer is the distance between the two dotted lines.

While the actual dimension is different for a 520 table set, it is my opinion that these same statements apply equally to the 520.

What is critical in this setup is that the distance from the tables edge to the extension tubes is constant]

So I take it that this measurement works well with the fence?

Assuming that you are speaking of the rip fence:

it has to work because it really is not adjustable. The only movement that is available is the slop between the mounting bolt size and the hole size which is minimal.

Do you have an issue that we should discuss?

Trying not to rain on anyones parade, I always used a home made gauge, excellant sketch by Dusty showing the difference from the table top to the top of the tubes, using the lastest 510 tube to table top spacing. I drilled out the threaded mounting holes on the early model 510 tables to use the later model screws, adjusters and nuts so the tube could be raised or lowered as needed. The early adjusters were too small for my fingers. I have dozens if them if anyone needs any. I found that the tube top spacing to the main table to be different on some tables. It was a quick way to align a mixture of early and late model 510 tables and rails. I am sure Shopsmith and some owners do not approve of this modification but it worked for me.
