When I bought my new to me Mark V 520 system it came with a bandsaw and about eight bandsaw blades among other goodies. Some of the bandsaw blades are new and still in their packaging, but some are out of their packaging and although they feel quite sharp they have some light to moderate surface rust on the band part of the blades (not so much on the teeth). The 6 or so blades with rust range from 1/8" through 5/8" widths.
Are they done for or can they be salvaged?
If they can be salvaged any tips I should follow to clean them up.
Thanks,
Pete

Although I have no experience with this it is also my thought that the guide blocks will wipe the rust from the blades. If you use carbon blocks the rust should wipe off fairly quickly. If you use the softer, cool blocks then you will probably want to check to see if the ends are still smooth and straight.chris jay wrote:I'm sure one you use them, they'll be fine. The friction will remove the rust when cutting

Thanks, I'm glad i'll be able to use them. I am running carbon blocks, but I also have cool blocks that came with the saw.
