Gasoline prices

Hi Gang
On Nov 15 I drove back from St Augustine Fl to my home and refueld my truck for $3.09 per gallon. This past Sunday I was out and gas was now $3.35 per gallon. Has anyone in other parts of the country had gas go up 36 cents in 9 days?

I haven't seen any change here, but Texas usually has "stable" prices compared to the rest of the country.

No - seems like gas has been going down around here lately. I typically either buy my gas at Costco or our local CarLock, where in either case it is usually$0.10-$0.15/gal cheaper, so not overly focused on the trends at the gas stations, but just recently I paid $3.60/gal at Costco, which is down ~$0.20/gal since the last time I went there. Everything I've heard lately is that the combination of the fall season (when driving declines over summer rates), the fairly steady domestic production (ie no refinery shutdowns or other problems that would reduce short-term domestic supply), and now more recently the improved negotiations with Iran are all leading to gas prices trending downward (these are not my opinions but rather those of "experts" that I read in the news somewhere).

We routinely have the highest gas prices in the Continental US and over the last 6 or so months I was regularly paying $4.00+/gal, so seeing $3.60/gal was a welcome relief to my budget...and I'm hoping the decline continues. I'm not sure why you would have seen that increase (?) Certainly we always see a ~$0.10/gal price range depending on where the gas is bought, with more touristy locations tending to gouge more than the local establishments, but nothing of the magnitude you mentioned. Given that Thanksgiving is the biggest travel period of the year, I wonder if some are taking advantage or otherwise this is some basis for a sudden increase (?)

$0.25 and larger price increases occur quite frequently here. Silly thing is in a couple of days they all start creeping down slowly. Also it is as if someone pulled a switch handle. They all get up by the end of the day(a couple of exceptions). Certain ones are the first to jump up so I know to watch them.

I also know the last to jump up.

This last price increase(over $0.30) is a mystery to me. I know not the cause.

Costco here has been 2.939 for about the last week. Declining prices for about the last two months, at least that I have noticed.

Love truck stop on I 45 just North of Conroe went from $2.86 to $3.09 in two days last week.

Maybe a little profit taking you think.

gas is 2.99 a gallon here surprised it hasn't gone up for Thanksgiving.

Josh, where have you been? Gas has gone from 2.89 less than a week ago to $3.17 today at a nearby QT station. I am getting a little bit sick of being gouged at the gas pump. It seems that a .10 to .15 cent swing within a few days is the norm around here. It may take a week or more to go down .10 cents but can shoot up that much and more over night. There is no way anyone can convince me the public isn't being scammed out of a ton of cash by these companies.

The station near my house was $3.09 for the last month or so and today it's $3.15. Your post makes me think I've been getting screwed since you are very close to me. Time to start going to Costco for gas...

I just love when I read a news story about some fake tweet sending oil prices through the roof and they don't go back down when the story is realized to be fake.

What the hell kind if system do we have when Twitter dictates our gas prices?
