Indianapolis Indiana

Post by ipbarnard »

This weekend I have to go to Indianapolis Indiana and will find myself with a few hours of free time Friday and Saturday, 12/6/13 & 12/7/13.

Any one have any recommendations on things to do or see in Indianapolis?

Not so lucky.

My son is finishing his national paramedic certification.

He has part of his test Saturday morning in Indi. He has 4 hours of practice on Friday afternoon and his exam Monday morning.

I am driving him down Friday because he finishes a 12 hour shift working as an EMT Saturday morning at 8 am. My driving there will give him time to sleep.

Check out http://www.aroundindy.com or http://www.visitindy.com for calendars of events in the area. Indy's downtown has a lot to see depending upon what you like to do. The State Museum has a wide variety of intersting exhibits, as well as the Eitlegorg Museum and the Children's Museum (The county's largest children's musuem, not necessarily for kids only). Since we will get our first major snow this weekend, you can see musch of this in the downtown area without going far. Christmas at the Zoo is also underway. The Circus comes to town on Friday.
Enjoy your time here

Of course, there's also Woodcraft and Rockler stores on the Northeast Side. A nice local wood shop is Northwest Lumber, 5035 Lafayette Rd.

If you're out in the evening, the Christmas lights on the homes on historic North Meridian St. are very nice to see. And of course the huge Christmas tree in Monument Circle, downtown.
