My Christmas Present Came Early

Santa came early. I am in Dallas picking up my 5th Shopsmith in 4 months. My new (used) 10 ER. Fred Sheldon can you come over and play during the Holidays ? I need to get everything together and make two shorties so I can still get The wife's car in the garage.

P.S. second look - The speed control rod passes through the two square blocks attached to the casting. Those need to be a loose(free to rotate) fit. Is it an "8" speed?

Never Never Never allow either spring to become fully compressed when adjusting speed either up or down.

Nice toys.....I have had fun with my Ringmaster and the speed changer is a great addition to the model 10, especially for drill press and lathe modes. The speed control assembly appears to be on the wrong side of the castings. Here are manuals if you did not get them:

You snake! I've been scouting an ER for months and I must have missed that one :D


All joking aside, how much did you get it for? Everything here is way overpriced used. I had to drive to your neck of the woods for my last one.

Jerry, that looks like it might be an E model, or has an E model ext table. An ER ext table would be made out of aluminum, and have a cast iron bracket. Yours is plywood, and has the aluminum bracket. You also have an E model rip fence.

If you replace the ext table, make sure to get an ER tailstock as well. The ER fence will fit right on your table, (Which looks to be an ER model.)

You should have ALL the manuals you need, on that thumb drive.

Just like the MkV stuff, NEVER move the speedchanger knob, without having the spindle spinning. (Manually turning a mounted sanding disc will work.)

JPG, if you set the speedchanger a tiny bit away from the headstock, (so the belts apply a bit of side pressure) that nut isn't really needed. You're right on the pulley sheaves.
