Aha! At it again. Whether because they want the button to not be triggered too easily or the button is just not as sensitive as the others, I must use a fingernail- vs a fingertip- to get the "0" button function to work.
When it does, and it does easily enough, all works perfectly.
Watt a relief. I like (now) the ability to 'zero' out the gauge at the beveled disc OR at the fence. And I realize there's no need for reading the beam if I'm reading the digidisplay.

2) I happen to be one of the rare people on earth who, when he says "the "0" button does nothing" not only means it but actually has good reason to say so.
Which demands my definition of 'good reason' I suppose:
The "ON" button works well and is reasonably sensitive]
