Almost finish making my 20 inch drum sander. Only have to work on the dust collection.

I followed shipwright design, as I felt it was cheaper to make, and most everything I had was already in my shop.

I don't know how much I'll use it but if it's not a lot, then I am better off for now spending $1,000 plus on one.

The pictures show the unit on the SS and the difference between "going through the sander vs. not. I check the "finished" one and it's flat enough to go on the base of my bowl I am turning.

Looks a lot better finished than mine with the flat black paint and imbedded dust. I'm glad it's working for you, now get that dust collection up and running.
I'll come out and check it out one day, OK?

I have the "Tri-sand" kit for my Foley/Belsaw planer but have never used it because while it is not a big deal to install it is a lot of extra effort to convert back to planer mode. I keep hoping to "steal" a second Belsaw planer really cheap and just install it on that one and keep it as a sander. It would be nice to plane a batch of lumber down then make a light pass through a drum-sander...
Then I get to looking at some of those units like Performax etc. ????
