What kind of wood for kitchen utinsils?

If you could share some patterns with me, that would be awesome!

I still haven't gotten a commitment from my son. Getting up before noon and spending the day in the shop instead of at the Xbox... that sounds like too much work to him!

Wife and I went shopping at the local Maul yesterday. Stopped in at Crate and Barrel store. They had wood utensils made from Beech wood.

I've never used it so good luck.

I read an almost-interesting book on the development of the toothpick industry in Maine during the 19th century. Birch was the raw material for toothpicks and for all the other mass-produced domestic items as well (e.g. kitchen implements, thread spools, etc.).

Looked at popsicle etc. sticks? Birch does not impart a foreign flavor.

My wife has a problem gripping spoons with narrow handles, so I turned these maple spoons a few years ago.
