I recommend using longer studs, washers and nuts in place of the bench tube hold down bolts that are in the base and headrest. Install the studs and set the the frame on whatever platform you are mounting it on and mark where the studs are resting before installing the headstock. Drill the platform for the studs, not the base or headrest. That way you do not have to drill any new holes in the base or headrest for the screws that Shopsmith includes with this kit.
