Tightning table level

My table tilt lock will not hold the table at level especially when I need to have the rip fence a good distance from the saw blade. I have the lock tightened a much as possible but it still slips. Any suggestions to adjust fro better holing power?

Not having seen your setup it would be difficult to give a good answer. By a good distance from the saw blade do you mean that the fence is off the main table and is on the aux sliding table? If so then I would suggest that you install the extension tubes and support the table using four posts.
If the table is slipping when the fence is used on the main table then it is possible that the trunnions are slipping due to some abuse or the gripping mechanism needs to be adjusted. I believe that Nick Engler discusses this in the video concerning table alignment

You did not say what model Shopsmith you have and your personnal profile is mute on almost everything so I am guessing.

If you have a Model 505/510/520, the table tilt lock should secure the table well; certainly well enough that the weight of the rip fence does not cause the table tilt lock to slip. However, having said that, I do not rely on the table tilt lock if I am working on the Main Table without being tied into an extension table. I just do not do that.

Do NOT WAX the trunnions.

If you have a Model 500, you'll need feedback from someone who has one.

Probably due to the heavy fence. I have disassembled the table and cleaned and P600 sanded the mating surfaces (by hand) to try and remove any stubborn material that would interfere with a good fit. As Dusty said: NO WAX there.

Still slipped after a few uses so I now take the advice and attach to one or the other of the end tables (after checking table angle). It is inconvenient if you must constantly change blade height, but keeping a 90 degree angle is usually preferable in my work.

Never had this with a Mark 5(V 500). At least I do not recall it with the trunion lock 'secure'.
