I recall the nova adapter thread, but do not remember any thing other than the question being 'raised' whether all arbors etc. had an angled set screw.
I see we now have a sample that says yes.
Maybe my memory has run off with Dusty's!:D

I first found a problem with the PSI 1 x 8 tpi adapter. One of several issues came out when I investigated, including the set-screw being vertical. There have been many subsequent discussions mostly having to do with lathe hardware.
I thought it was clear that this is typical of shopsmith hardware, but I guess I never said so??? Sorry.
One thing I don't know is if this is also common on the old iron. My 10er stuff is out of reach so maybe someone could take a look at that age equipment?? If I were guessing I'd say it too uses the angle. BTW if you find a long screw to put in place of the set-screw it is a lot easier to see.

Looked at a 10 vintage sanding disk(late version) and an arbor. Neither was 'skewed'. Keep in mind the set screws are different sizes.
I looked at a older 1 1/4" arbor(of unknown ancestry) and it was skewed.
A MV sanding disk was skewed.
I could not get to my 'original' m5 arbor but my money is on 'skewed'.
