Sanding disc comes loose.

If I leave the sanding disc attached while using the band saw it works itself loose. The set screw loosens. This is a new happening. I tighten it pretty good and make sure it is lined up correctly. I don't have the problem with drill chuck. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Change out the allen screw.
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

The first thing that comes to my mind is: remove the sanding disc while using bandsaw.(or the drill chuck or . . .)

I've been having a similar problem with saw blades and dados. I think I'll take Bob's suggestion.

Just out of curiosity, are we talking about conventional or PowerPro headstocks?

You might also try just putting a drop of finger nail polish - yes, steal a bottle from your wife if you are so situated - on the threads. Let it dry. Works wonders. I use this on the threads on my Delta lathe with attachments that loosen over time.

This also maybe caused by the powerpro bump. Call SS CS.

This also would be more likely with the steel discs(greater inertia).

On a Power Pro driven unit I would think having more than one item attached would confuse the computer into thinking there is more load on the band saw than actual. As I understand it the PP is making many adjustments a second based on the type of wood you are cutting and the size of the blade to provide the proper torque and rpms for the job at hand.
