I suspect that the contradictions stem from the fact that there are several (many) people reporting and there are no ground rules for testing. Everyone making the observation a little bit different.
By golly, I think you've got it! What we don't know is when and if SS began or did not begin any RFI update. Did they only do field updates or include factory builds? Clearly there is a difference. Mine is a factory build, ordered in March 2013, received mid 2013, and it interferes with AM band battery or AC.
Would be nice to know without guessing.

This indicates to me that you are witnessing "radiated emissions" as your symptoms are independent of a power connection. If you get in your car and move a couple hundred feet, does the interference decrease (maybe even go away).
Does a battery operated radio pickup the interference from all directions (like walk all around out doors).
Don't tell your neighbors what you are doing. They might be hearing the interference too.

Then there is the question of the ground wire connection(s) all the way back to the grounding rod.

How far away can you get without losing the signal? While out there a ways, can you have some one turn the PowerPro off and then back on to see if you lose it and then get it back at that distance?

Do I remember correctly that Nova had for a time at least ask that their product (lathe) be plugged in to a filter? I seem to recall reading that here.
I also remember that there have been some issues with GFI circuits.
If someone wants to come up with a repeatable test using limited resources I'd be willing to provide input. I'm not sure how we can come up with a common way of doing this.... Unlikely we all have the same radio or the same type of anything to use as resources.
I can say I've not experienced any radio problems but I have not looked for them.
I do remember troubleshooting radio issues back in the good old days. In those cases the car was the problem. For those of you old enough you know of what I speak.
Anyone one here have a scope and say a 1 meter dia multi wrap hoop of wire. It would be nice to find the frequency(ies). If we had that base then the harmonics could show us what if being interfered with.

Well, never measured the distance. Just know that it is the same sound that I hear in the shop with PP on. But have done the on/off thing. That's how I found the problem was with PowerPro.
Shopsmith knows of the problem. They just don't have a 100% fix.

I do not yet own the PowerPro but when the finances pickup I might. But, I can honestly say that any electronic items(s) I own I always shutdown every night or when not in use. Especially if it is storming or we have an ice storm or high winds that might take the power out. I do this even if I have things plugged into a Professional Power Surge Protector or a Battery Backup System. The main reason for this is I have lost computers, printers and a few other things in storms or when we have a bad power surge (Spike). I would rather be safe than sorry and lose my investment in these things. This is just my opinion and me chiming in on that situation. Hope it makes sense to all and helps a little.
