Modifying a Mark V Green to have reverse.

I've heard that a reverse modification can be done, but haven't been able to find the plans. I've read that you can achieve a better finish by using reverse along with forward when fine sanding and polishing.
I just inherited a Mark V Green Serial Number 314673. The unit has not been used in probably 25+ years, so I am preparing my work bench to completely disassemble the headstock and replace bearings, stripped set screws, belts and other aged parts, as well as grease, oil and wax needed parts.

Question is while I have the headstock on the bench and disassembled I would like to do this modification,
Where can I find the steps for this??
Has anyone ever done this?
Are there any cons to doing this??

Any help would be appreciated!!

You WON'T need any grease. What's the brand on the motor?
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

I just needed to go back to my motor notes from 1985, dah!
Now that I figured out how to reverse the direction, is it safe to do with this my Greenie?

The guide is accurate and complete, but I am working it to make it prettier and less wordy. The steps will not change.

The only "con" anyone has mentioned is with regards to the Gilmer headstocks (which you have). Sometimes the belt does not want to track correctly in reverse and may have some edge fraying if not corrected. It will take some tweaking and needs to be run under observation.

The Emerson motor has a shared connection between one side of the start winding and one side of a run winding. This shared connection is hidden somewhere in the motor and nobody knows exactly where yet. There is an old thread in which someone stated they had a motor shop reverse their Emerson, so I know it's possible.

I have an Emerson motor in my Mini waiting to be explored but that's at the bottom of my long to-do list.
