Nick Engler's Recipe for Cleaning Paint Brushes

Post by Lodgepole »

I thought I remembered that Nick Engler had a recipe for cleaning old paint brushes. Does anyone else have that recollection, and if so, where can I find the recipe?

In his "Woodworking Wisdom" book page 283
Super brush cleaner
2 parts toluol or xylene
1 part acetone
1 part denatured alcohol

"Let the brush soak in this over night, and comb the hardened finish out of the bristles. Rinse the brush in fresh cleaner, then wash it with soap and water."

Be well,
