Yea, a whole discussion could be debated on how to sell something and what its actually worth. Well, it's only worth what someone is willing to give you. For these folks, time will have a way of forcing them to come to the "grips" of reality.

Of course, they could get lucky and run into a fool and his money!

Oh, Elanor was the first "first lady" to marry a cousin. Her father was Teddy's brother. (So she couldn't change her name when she got hitched.)

That price is ridiculous. That baby needs a ground up refurb. Those cross-struts seem to indicate that even the legs might not be attached properly.

Someone must’ve looked at the cost for a new machine with all the trimmings. Then, having considered most of the structure being present, figured about a third of the price might sell it.

But it’s all work and no play for some time to come if you wanted to do more than sell off the parts. I wouldn’t offer more than $100 for it.

That’s actually how I feel about it too, but I considered that one might be able to recoup a fair amount above $100 parting it out. Maybe collect a few parts to keep handy for repairs.

I can't imagine being able to recoup $100 on ebay for any number of parts off of that machine. Mark V parts don't go for much, and there is far more work required to clean up/paint/shine any of it to make it worth while. Time is money. Listing and shipping costs on ebay after a sale would be prohibitive also on larger items. It's just not worth anything but scrap. Do you think there would be anything inside the headstock worth saving? Probably can't use the belts/ 1 bearing quill no doubt/rusted and lack of lubrication thru out. I wouldn't give a counterfeit penny for it, much less use gas money to go pick it up.

They(bench tubes) came painted from the factory.

They were not red however!:D

Do not tell the seller that it is the first model made(the price might go up for a museum piece:rolleyes:).

It always amazes me that these folks with 0 experience put these things together in ridiculous configurations by not even thinking about how it might 'need' to go together. Nice pepper grinder!:D
